In the atmosphere of Titan found substance involved in the creation of living cells
Rushing in search of life in other galaxies, scientists seem to have almost lost interest in our closest neighbors in the solar system. As it turned out, in vain.
Using the system of radio telescopes Atacama Large Millimeter Array, NASA specialists fixed in the atmosphere of Titan, Saturn’s satellite, a compound that is the building material of cell membranes – acrylonitrile. In this regard, according to scientists, the possibility of the existence of primitive forms of life in the oceans of Titan filled with methane is not ruled out.
Most of all acrylonitrile is concentrated at the south pole. Extremely low temperatures contribute to the concentration of the substance and its subsequent precipitation in the form of rains, replenishing giant methane reservoirs. Scientists have determined that at this concentration (especially in the north) it is possible to produce 10,000 living cells in one cubic centimeter of substrate. This is significantly higher than the similar indicator in the coastal waters of our World Ocean.
