Google closes Project Ara
Just became known: the Internet giant Google stops for an indefinite time the implementation of Project Ara – an ambitious project to create the world’s first modular smartphone. According to informed sources, in this way, Google intends to restore order among its numerous hardware projects.
The development of a unique gadget was entrusted to Advanced Technology and Project (ATAP) – one of the divisions of Google. Unexpected news about the suspension of work has caused disappointment of the whole team, which has already achieved considerable results.
The very idea of a modular smartphone belongs to Dave Hackens. She was interested in Motorola, which later was bought by Google together with a promising project, which received a new name – Project Ara.
However, the same sources are encouraging: modular smartphones have a future, but already with other manufacturers, which Google will allow to license a suspended project.
